Marcel Molina’s ENGRAVING TIME at Havana’s Visual Arts Development Center

The Visual Arts Development Center (CDAV is the Spanish acronym) opened on Tuesday July 8, at 5 p.m., Engraving Time, a solo show by Cienfuegos-based artist Marcel Molina.

Marcel Molina (Lajas, 1987) has developed most of his brief artistic career in Cienfuegos and he has been given such recognitions as the first award in the 8th National Engraving Meeting. Engraving Time is a comprehensive display on his work, which includes different engraving techniques (silk screen printing, stone etching and xylography) to metaphorically tackle the “reconversion” of the Cuban sugar industry and gradual processes linked to the “dismantling” of several sugar factories, specifically in Cruces, Cienfuegos, his second hometown.

The Visual Arts Development Center is nestled right in the heart of the Old Square, corner of San Ignacio and Teniente Rey. The show is scheduled to be opened to the public through Wednesday July 30 with the regular gallery hours: Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
