The international biennial for contemporary art, OpenArt, takes place in Örebro's public space. In January, applications open for the tenth edition, which will take place in the summer of 2026. Professional artists from all over the world are welcome to submit their contributions between January 2-22, 2025.
Four months after the last exhibition ended, in early January OpenArt opens up the possibility for artists to apply to participate in the next biennial. OpenArt is looking for artists who work in different expressions and techniques and who explore the intersection between art and public space. Artworks that touch on themes of collective processes, democracy and sustainable change are of particular interest.
- "OpenArt is about the meeting between the urban space, its visitors and the art. This year we are particularly looking for works of art that invite participation and inspire to imagine a new, possible future" says Sofia Gustafsson, exhibition producer and project manager for Open Call.
Before OpenArt 2024, 602 applications were received, of which 17 artists were selected to participate in the exhibition. The selection process for 2026 begins immediately after the application period closes on January 22. The producers at OpenArt collaborate with jury groups to select the artists to be invited to participate.
OpenArt is using the Konstpool platform for applications this year. For more information and a direct link to Open Call, visit: openart.se/opencall.
