Lois Lambert Gallery presents “Origins,” Miguel Milló’s first exhibition in the United States.

Milló creates temporary installations, transforming the human body as it is masked with clay, and embellished with organic materials.  The characters’ temporary existence is documented solely by the artist’s photographic lens.  His works pay tribute to the raw emotions and beauty of the human body, the happiness, freedom and sadness we can experience and overcome.

Milló decided to tell his stories rather than to interpret someone else’s visions, as dictated by his career in advertising.  The end of his long-time romantic relationship motivated Miguel to capture the melancholy, anger, isolation, depression, and strength he experienced during that time.  This series encompasses his cathartic process.  Milló states, “I document the woman arising from the Earth with her feelings, weaknesses and sensuality.”

 “Various forms of art create the image,” Milló acknowledges, painting, installation and photography are part of his process.  He becomes the painter and sculptor of the subject and its environment, and later the photographer controlling the light and composition of the image.  During the 14 to 16 hour process, Milló utilizes the human body as his canvas and natural materials as his media.  Photography is the final process in which he captures his creation, the female form as the foundation of an organic composition.

 Miguel Milló studied Graphic Design at the Iberoamerican University in Tijuana, Mexico. Milló has exhibited his series “Origins” at Centro de Cultura Casa Lamm in Mexico City and is currently in the process of exhibiting in Cuba, and Malaysia.
