Tabakalera’s 2014 Schedule

Tabakalera (Donostia / San Sebastian) kicks off its 2014 schedule in an effort to tackle different topics from the audiovisual program and with the incorporation of other contemporary and thinking practices. These monthly programs will be structured with concrete concepts or themes, materialized with screenings, workshops, seminars and talks that will be mainly taking place in SUKALDEA, Tabakalera’s new provisional venue.

PROGRAM 01: ARCHIVE
Stone, Paper and Scissors. Audiovisual Archive, Collage and History Rewriting
January 21 - 25 in Sukaldea (Atocha tower)

This program aims at tackling, from a reflexive and practical approach, the uses of audiovisual archives when it comes to rewriting history. The editing documentary is defined as a compilation of different archive material, sound and image, which after going through the cutting room, turn into a new work.

The program will be analyzing the concept of audiovisual archive, from its origins to date, by screening some key movies in terms of the use of this practice.

At the same time, we propose a practical workshop based on the huge virtual archive of our time: internet and its image-and-sound banks.
