The Organizing Committee of the 9th Engraving National Encounter, which will be celebrated in this capital from September 23 to October 21, announced the program of collateral exhibits and special presentation of this event that is sponsored by the National Council of Visual Arts, the Havana Graphics Experimental Workshop and the Center for the Development of Visual Arts (CDAV, as per its initials in Spanish).
Two exhibits will be inaugurated simultaneously the first day of the event at the CDAV: a sample-contest and an exhibit of works by Marcel Molina at the institution’s Sala Polivalente.
A personal exhibit by Dairán Fernández will be inaugurated on September 24 at Galería Rhino from Havana Graphics Experimental Workshop while on the 27th another exhibit will be opened as a tribute to Antonio Vidal at the Rubén Martínez Villena Provincial Library.
The special presentations of the event will take place at Havana Graphics Experimental Workshop on September 24 and will include an exhibit of Spanish contemporary serigraphy, by Mr. Víctor del Campo, curator of the International Engraving Fair of Bilbao and another one from his fellow countryman, graphic artist Jabier Herrero.
On September 27, a personal exhibit by South African artist Norman Kaplan will be presented at Sala Rubén Martínez Villena of UNEAC.
From September 26 to 30 there will be a theoretical event including masterly classes from Mr. Víctor del Campo and Mr. Norman Kaplan. The place is still to be decided.
Next September 5 will close the admission period of works for the 9th Engraving National Encounter, the fundamental purpose of which is the rescue of lithography and other traditional techniques, forever linked to the contemporary speech, for the new generations.
