Havana.- The National Ballet of Cuba will perform at the Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso the pieces Dionaea, Celeste and Paquit Grand pas, three of the most acclaimed pieces of its repertoire, said yesterday the company. The performances are scheduled for March 17th, 18th and 19th with leading dancers Anette Delgado, Viengsay Valdes and Danni Hernandez, as well as other dancers of the company, founded here in 1948.
Dionaea, an outstanding work by Cuban choreographer Gustavo Herrera, will open the program followed by Celeste, by Belgian-Colombian Anabelle Lopez with music composed by Russian Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.
Meanwhile, the Grand pas Paquit, choreography by French Marius Petipa and music by Austrian Ludwig Minkus, will complete the performance of the company in the Hall Federico García Lorca at the Gran Teatro de La Habana.
Founded by Alberto, Fernando and Alicia Alonso, the National Ballet of Cuba is one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world for the high technical and artistic level of its members.
