Famous US photographer to donate artworks to Cuba’s National Fine Arts Museum

The famous US photographer Peter Turnley will donate to Cuba’s National Fine Arts Museum several pieces of his own, as a result of a work that reflects daily life and human reality.

 

The action will take place news Tuesday February 23 at the Cuban Art Building’s Theater. There will be also a talk on photography and it will be chaired by Dr. Mario Masvidal Saavedra.

 

Turnley’s exhibition during the last few months in Fine Arts was the first personal selection that a US artist had made in this institution in its history.

 

Turnley has been more than 40 times in the cover of Newsweek magazine and his work frequently appears in major international journals. National Geographic, Paris Match and New Yorker are some of them.

 

In the past 30 years, he has witnessed decisive events in the world and has worked in more than 90 countries. His work has reflected the scene in the Gulf War, the conflict in the Balkans, the fall of the Berlin Wall, the end of apartheid, the ravages of Hurricane Katrina, the earthquake in Haiti, among other events.
