The Cantonale Berne Jura was launched in 2011 and is characterised by intercantonal cooperation. Spread across various institutions, it offers artists an important and broad platform and presents the diversity of Bernese and Jura art to the public.
This year’s edition of the intercantonal Christmas exhibition Cantonale Berne Jura at the Kunstmuseum Thun showcases contemporary, refreshing, uncompromising, magnificent, ingeniously simple and exhilaratingly complex works. Spread across eleven art institutions, the Cantonale provides a powerful platform for contemporary art of supra-regional importance and presents a broad spectrum of artistic positions.
A total of 507 dossiers were submitted, from which the Kunstmuseum Thun selected 32 positions. The selection made by an expert jury includes works in the fields of video, sculpture, installation, painting, textiles, photography and performance. The themes covered are diverse and range from questions of identity, gender, ecology, sustainability, physicality and origin to myths and cosmology.
