Please join us on Saturday, 27 May 2017 for Cloaked in the Medium: Dress/Costume as Embodied Practice, a panel discussion coinciding with Gallery MOMO’s current exhibition, Dress Code, a group exhibition of well-established and emerging contemporary artists working across disciplines through the evocative medium of costume.
The panelists will explore the complexities of representation, identity, performativity, and provocation through the medium of dress/fashion/costume, as evoked by the artists in Dress Code, as well as within their own fields of study.
“It is the sartorial that marks the boundaries between self and other, between individual and society, between internal dreamscapes and external realities. It is the sartorial that conditions, contains or restrains the body, but also confronts, challenges or liberates the body.”
