Mapfre Foundation’s Culture Institute has presented 'Sorolla y America' project Madrid, a great show that will kick off in December and is focused on the successful American adventure lived by the Valencian painter in the early 20th century.
The display has been organized by The Meadows Museum (Dallas, USA), The San Diego Museum of Art and Mapfre Foundation, with the collaboration of the Hispanic Society of America and the support of The Meadows Foundation. Sorolla y America (Sorolla and America) is set to visit Dallas, San Diego and Madrid.
This exhibition, to be showcased in Madrid in September 2014, will be gathering in Spain an important group of works that were displayed by the artist during his American shows and acquired by collectors and museums in that country. There are 160 artworks, among them more than a hundred haven’t been exhibited since they were sold in those shows, and there are 40 that remained unpublished.
