UNA BOCCATA D'ARTE 2024: The artistic operations and the inaugurations of the fifth edition

Una Boccata d’Arte, the widespread contemporary art project promoted by Fondazione Elpis, returns from 22nd June to 29th September 202420 villages across Italy, one for each region, host 20 projects produced by 20 Italian and international artists after a period of residence in contact with the local area and communities.

This year, Una Boccata d’Arte has reached its fifth edition, with 100 projects implemented since 2020. For the occasion, just artists aged under 35 are invited, offering an extensive overview of the contemporary panorama through their techniques and their research.

The inaugurations will be held on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd June, in all the locations.

Widespread exhibitions, site-specific installations, performances and projects made using different media by the artists involved, will activate a special cultural itinerary that runs through the entire peninsula. An invitation to travel and discover unexpected locations, far from traditional contemporary art circuits, by means of an unprecedented interaction with the territory.

“The launch of the fifth edition of Una Boccata d’Arte marks a fantastic landmark, 100 operations created in 100 villages by a like number of international artists from 2020, the year in which the project was created with the idea of promoting young artists, in compliance with our mission,” said Marina Nissim, President of Fondazione Elpis. “For this special fifth anniversary year, we have decided to involve exclusively artists aged under 35, who are responding with great enthusiasm and participation, both in the creation of their works, and in the relations with the local area and community. It is surprising to discover the vast network of human and professional relations developing over the course of time around Una Boccata d’Arte, as a result of the valuable contributions made by artists, curators, mayors, local administrations and citizens. The many works that have been accepted as permanent exhibits by the villages are a reflection of this successful synergy. Once again this year, Una Boccata d’Arte will leave its mark, with its ability to involve local residents and the general public, creating connections around the 20 projects.”

Una Boccata d’Arte is a project created in collaboration with Maurizio Rigillo, Co-founder of Galleria Continua, and Threes that every year curates three art interventions focusing on experimental sounds, this year in Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise.
