Aargauer Kunsthaus | Neutrality Model

Neutrality in Switzerland is more than just a foreign policy principle. It characterises a national mindset that also stands for humanitarian values, consensus, self-determination and security.

In existing and newly created works, contemporary artists explore various aspects of the term ‘neutral’. The spectrum ranges from Switzerland as a location for international organizations and diplomatic transactions to a mythical, idealized paradise. Other works examine how neutral the museum institution, language or artificial intelligence are.

The diverse approaches invite visitors to reflect on the meaning and social conditions of neutrality.
