Cuba’s National Ballet to perform in Europe

HAVANA, Cuba.- The Cuba’s National Ballet (BNC) will perform in several cities in Spain, France and Italy, on a tour that will begin on the 30th of this month.
 
Pedro Simón, director of the National Dance Museum, said the company will visit the Italian cities of Turin and Ravenna, as well as Madrid, Barcelona and Vitoria in the Basque Country, Spain.
 
It will be the first time the BNC will dance in the Pleyel hall of Paris, which represents a great opportunity for the company to know new scenarios, he said.
 
Simon emphasized France's interest in witnessing the grouping in a varied program of pas de deux to give a look at the different styles of dance, in addition to Giselle and Don Quixote, pieces that will be available to French people for a week each.
 
Viengsay Valdés, Sadaise Arencibia, Anette Delgado, Grettel Morejón, Dani Hernández, Rafael Quenedit, Patricio Revé, Raúl Abreu, Ginett Moncho, Claudia García and Ariel Martínez will assume the main roles, seconded by soloists and the company's dance corps.
 
The public in those European countries of will enjoy the classic Nutcracker, Giselle, and Don Quixote, in versions of the BNC, with which it has conquered the best opinions of the specialized critic, he emphasized.
 
The company, led by prima ballerina Alicia Alonso, announced that before the departure of the company to Europe they will be celebrating the 180th anniversary of the Gran Teatro de la Habana.
 
The festivities will take place on April 14, 15 and 16 and will include works such as Oscurio by the Belgian-Colombian choreographer Annabelle López Ochoa;Invierno, by Cuban Ely Regina Hernández; And Cygne, by Argentinean Daniel Proietto.
