Writers from 16 Countries To Attend Panama Book Fair

Panama.- More than 40 writers from 16 countries will attend the 12th International Book Fair of Panama from August 16th to 21st at the Atlapa Conference Center in this capital city. The program includes round tables, conferences and launch of books by poets, novelists, short story writers, essayists and journalists from Cuba, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Salvador, Spain, United States, Guatemala, Jamaica, Mexico, Morocco, Nicaragua, Peru, Puerto Rico, Uruguay and Venezuela.

 

According to Maria Elena de la Rosa, coordinator of the Cultural and Professional Program of the event, the agenda also includes literary, musical, film and theater events, as well as workshops for the public.

 

The Panamanian delegation will be represented by some twenty writers, joined by Cuban Leonardo Padura (awarded the Princesa de Asturias Prize for Literature in 2015), Chilean writers Carla Guelfenbein (Alfaguara Prize) and Alejandro Alaluf, Colombian Pablo Montoya (awarded the Romulo Gallegos prize) and Santiago Gamboa, among others.

 

From the United States, guest of honor country, the event will be attended by Antonio Rodriguez, Rigoberto Gonzalez, Anna ReneeTodd, Rita Ruesga, Ken Rossignol and Gerardo Piña Rosales.
