The personal exhibition Verso a verso, of the painter Maykel Herrera, will be inaugurated on Friday September 12th , at five in the afternoon, at El Templete Restaurant on Avenida del Puerto, Narciso corner, Old Havana.
On the exhibition, Herrera once said to reporters: "Verso a verso has no other purpose than to engage in dialogue for human betterment and the promotion of a culture of peace. It also intends to remind the risks and conflicts in various parts of the world where thousands of children are victims of violence, abuse and child labor. "
Herrera was born in Vertientes in 1979, in the eastern province of Camagüey. He graduated from the Professional School of Fine Arts in Camagüey, majoring in painting in 1998. In his childhood he felt inclined for the sport. But also attracted by the figure of his father, an architect; he began to imitate his drawings and continued perfectioning over the years. In ninth grade begins at the Professional School of Fine Arts in Camagüey and began his career as a creator.
Since 1995 he developed twenty solo exhibitions and participated in many group exhibitions. He has also been devoted to the illustration of books as Casa primera, Cuerda veloz, Ella estaba donde no se sabía, El capitán de los dormidos, Romper el silencio y El Búfalo Blanco, among other journals and volumes.
His works are in the collections of the Student Museum Jesús Suárez Gayol in Camagüey, Havana Radio Studies, and private collections in countries such as Denmark, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Canada, France, Italy, England, Bahamas, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Greece, Costa Rica, Andorra, Argentina, Japan, China, Germany and Spain.
