Cildo Meireles is recognised as one of the pioneering artists of the international movement of conceptual art. Since the 1960s he has been creating sculptures and installations that often require the participation of the public with layers of physical, sensorial and poetic facets.
The show, which opens in August 21st at Luisa Strina Gallery and that coincides with 31st Sao Paulo Biennial, follows his 2013 and 2014 retrospectives at Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, Museu de Arte Contemporânea de Serralves, Porto, and HangarBicocca, Milan.
