On the Road is an ambitious project that will be taking place in Santiago de Compostela through November 2014 on the occasion of the 8th Centenary of Francisco de Asís’ trip to Santiago de Compostela.
The curator of this show, Gloria Moure, has gathered an important group of artworks created by 35 artists from different countries, including outstanding figures of international contemporary art over the past 40 years. The collection includes works that were specifically created for this exhibit, such as those created by Francis Alÿs, Jorge Barbi, Tacita Dean, Jimmie Durham, Richard Long, Perejaume or Lawrence Weiner.
Besides the above-mentioned specific projects, the display has counted on the collaboration and complicity of first-line public and private collections, such as Fundação Serralves (Porto), Fundació Antoni Tàpies (Barcelona), Kunsthalle Bremen (Bremen), Reina Sofía National Museum Art Center (Madrid), Museum für Moderne Kunst (Frankfurt Am Main), Walker Art Center (Minneapolis) and Yves Klein Foundation (Paris), among others.
The 44-piece collection is made up of a wide range of artistic formats: paintings, sculptures, pictures, installations, videos and films, as well as a specific publication and interventions in the urban space.
