The 5th Honduras Biennale is going to be held on May – June 2014 and the Museum for National Identity (MIN is the Spanish acronym) will be its venue. Exclusively sponsored by Mujeres en las Artes “Leticia de Oyuela” MUA, the organizing institution, Promerica Bank and Ortiz-Gurdián Foundation, the Biennale will be curated by international curator Orlando Britto Jinorio.
“Meeting Spaces (Espacios de Encuentros)” is the title of the curatorial proposal that invites Honduran artistic community and actors to participate in this edition of the biennale, which is aimed at developing and showing projects that take the contemporary art space as a possible space for continuous meetings. Meetings to rethink and show our world by means of new approaches; to imagine and construct other possible worlds in the undisputable space for art and culture of utopia, the target horizon.
Within the context of such concepts as enthusiasm and generosity; Orlando Britto Jinorio proposes the construction and design of projects with the format of open, multiple and different works; from projects individually headed or designed by artists that include a collective perspective, projects conceived by community actors or groups of artists that work with community contexts to projects that have been collectively designed and penned, as part of this group or community spirit.
Having analyzed each project and established symbolic coordinates or close action spaces among them, curator Orlando Britto Jinorio defines four symbolic spaces in terms of museography.
