Guggenheim Bilbao Museum Takes Show “Ernesto Neto: The Body That Carries Me” to the Streets

Guggenheim Bilbao Museum, in collaboration with Bilbobus, takes the experience of “Ernesto Neto: The Body That Carries Me (el cuerpo que me lleva)” to the streets of Bilbao.

From April 23 to May 4, owing to “Ernesto Neto: The Body That Carries Me”, sponsored by Iberdrola, the people from Bilbao and those who visit the city are going to find an unexpected surprise in the city: a special action organized by Guggenheim Bilbao Museum to give them a unique retrospective dedicated to the work of one of the most outstanding artists from Brazil, who is internationally famous due to his organic sculptures, most of which feature colossal dimensions.

The Museum, in collaboration with Bilbobus, is going to offer some 10,000 users of urban bus the multisensory experience of the Brazilian artist’s show, to be visited at the museum through May 18. With his work “Baleiro Bala”, Ernesto Neto reaffirms, among other elements, the qualities of Brazilian local craftsmanship and popular culture. This peculiar Bilbobus unit will be visiting most of the neighborhoods in Bilbao, since it will different routes on a daily basis.

Likewise, in an effort to bring to Bilbao the festive atmosphere of Río streets, candy packages are going to be given to the users of this special Bilbobus to emulate the activity of camelôs, candy hawkers that work near railway lines in the Brazilian capital. The lucky ones who get one of these candy packages will enjoy a “2x1” promotion at the Museum’s ticket offices, valid through May 17, which will allow them to take one companion for free when they buy their ticket.

In the same breath, on April 23, 24 and 25, Brazilian musician Diego Ain is going to entertain the users of this Bilbobus with themes included in his personal project “Ain & The Machine”, in which his body, voice and different objects are sonorous sources, backed up by technology. Diego Ain is a composer, producer and percussionist, and he has composed pieces for documentaries, short films, theater plays, dance shows and ads. As an instrumentalist, he has collaborated with Miko Weaver (guitarist with Prince), Paco Fernández (Café del Mar) or Ara Malikian, as well as different projects that range from a world percussion big band to “Calima”, a musical group that represents the new flamenco and was nominated to the Latin Grammy with its first album.
