Cisneros Foundation’s 2012 Scholarship Program

Involved in the promotion of Latin American art, Cisneros Foundation and Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection (FC/CPPC) recently granted the scholarships corresponding to 2012, also naming the institutions that will be the counterpart in the achievement of the agreed terms, since the beneficiaries must count on “innovating and visionary programs” to complete their education.

The idea is creating opportunities for project production and showcases, as well as reaching out the public to be in contact and learn on contemporary culture, FC/CPPC informed in a press release.

The guardianship scholarship was granted to Guatemalan Emiliano Valdes, who will be working for five months in Documenta 13 in Kassel (Germany); Brazilian Marina Noronha and Colombian Juana Berrio, post grade students from the Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College in New York, were selected to receive the summer practice scholarship, at the Art Office and Casco Design (Holland) and the New Museum of Contemporary Art (New York, US), respectively; and Pablo Leon de la Barra and Maria del Carmen Carrion were given the scholarship for Curatorial Research Trips in Central America and the Caribbean.

Novelty in this edition of the scholarship program was the support granting for cultural organizations and institutions that directly work on the spreading of works created by Latin American artists, such as Al Borde (Venezuela), Lugar a Dudas (Colombia) and SOMA (Mexico).
