Havana: May 31 is the deadline for submitting applications to the Creation & Curatorship Scholarships called on by the Center for the Development of Visual Arts (CDAV is the Spanish acronym).
The call pursues to support artists (less than 35 years of age) in the promotion and fostering of experimentation, inquiries and renovation going on in the contemporary visual arts, as well as to encourage research on the ongoing transformation and evolution of Cuba’s contemporary art as a basis for the curatorial perception of an entire exhibit. The results will be unveiled in September through different newsletter issues.
The jury will grant three scholarships on creation, personal and indivisible, for a total amount of $8,000 (MN) and $1,000 (CUC) each, effective by check payment. The projects will be exposed during the 2012 expositional programming at the CDAV.
One curatorial project will be awarded with a total amount of $8,000 (MN) and $1,000 (CUC), that will contribute to the financing of the prized curatorial project. It will be later on exhibited at the institution’s galleries in the course of 2012. The CDAV will cover the making of the exhibit catalog and all promotional and mounting procedures.
In both cases, the scholarships will start in September 2011 and will conclude with the concretion of the projects the following year. The awardees will count on a full year to come up with the artworks. The CDVA’s curatorial team and front office will keep an eye on this whole process.
