International Experts to Meet in the 5th Latin American Congress of Culture

The 5^th Latin American Congress of Culture, to take place in Zaragoza on November 20 – 22 under the slogan “Digital Culture, Network Culture”, is going to be widely attended.

The event is going to gather ministers, experts, lecturers and attendees from 22 Spanish-Portuguese-speaking countries that make up the Latin American Community of Nations: Andorra, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, El Salvador, Spain, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Paraguay, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela.

The 5^th Latin American Congress of Culture will be putting together the most internationally acclaimed figures of the digital world. "This is the first time that many international experts and gurus come to Spain to set the guidelines of evolution linked to the transition to the digital", Javier Celaya explained.

Likewise, the congress is going to be attended by the 21 Latin American finalists of “Emprende con Cultura” contest, who have been handpicked among 550 projects. It’s all about digital projects related to the digital cultural and creative sectors, which require external investment to be developed. This contest is aimed at fostering digital projects in cultural and creative industries all over Latin America, as well as shedding light on the most innovative projects.

The objective of the 5^th Latin American Congress of Culture, presented by Spain’s Secretary of State for Culture, Jose Maria Lassalle within the framework of the 16^th Latin American Conference of Ministers of Culture, held in Panama, is to develop the Latin American Cultural Program and to create a debate space to face the challenge and the opportunity of a cultural change to the digital.

Lassalle announced in this meeting that the Congress wants to have a bearing on the support and visibility of cultural industries and to contribute in the creation of a debate space on experiences and policies in terms of digital culture.
