Esterio Segura’s “Adios mi Amor” Set up in a New York Passage
Cuban artist Esterio Segura’s installation “Adios mi amor” (Goodbye My Love) is deployed, March 8 – May 13, in a passage next to Times Square, between 42nd West and 43rd street, right in the block between the 6th Avenue and Broadway. “Adios mi amor” is being showcased in New York while a drawing exhibition created by the artist is being displayed in Salt Fine Art gallery, Laguna Beach, California.
The exhibition in Salt Fine Art includes a selection of drawings, engravings and three-dimensional works that refer to different projects Segura has worked on, "Adios mi amor" is part of one of these projects.
Over the years, Esterio has created several projects that include drawings, sculptures, installations, etc; which explore the world of airplanes. Most of the works have been hybrid airplanes and other things, animals or cars, for instance. This time, it’s all about hearts, winged hearts that deal with the experience of banishment, nostalgia, memories, loss, the simple experimentation of saying goodbye to everything we can love...
Last year, “Adios mi amor” was showcased at Havana’s Jose Marti airport, Terminal 3, as part of the 11th Biennial. The piece can presently be admired in New York and this is the first time this city welcomes two public works created by Cuban artists.
