Beginning Dec. 16 and thru Sunday Dec. 18, Madrid will be the venue of choice for a fair on emerging art. Room Art Fair 2011is a new space for young artists willing to showcase their innovative and bold proposals. The gathering is meant to promote more down-to-earth art collecting, the kind of art that a broader public can have access to.
The fair will be held at the Chic & Basic Mayerling Hotel in the Spanish capital’s historic core. Let’s bear in mind this is not the first time the guestrooms of a hotel have been used for art exhibits. The intimate character of the spaces, the different tours and the multitude of crossings that can take place there generate positive complicity between spectators and the artworks, let alone they forge closer ties and spark off peculiar reactions in the public. Thus, this fair will be a social and cultural meeting ground for gallery owners, artists, collectors, visitors and friends.
Room Art Fair will provide a panoramic view of the latest trends in Spain’s artistry world, based on the projected attendance of 21 galleries hailing from many parts of the country. Out of Madrid, Arteuno, ASM28, Galería Guerrero, PAC and Pelayo 47 will attend, while etHALL, ImaginartGallery, N2 Galería and "untitled" BCN are coming from Barcelona. In addition, other participating galleries will be Addaya (Majorca), Casa Cuadrada (Bogota), Centre d'Art La Real (Palma de Majorca), Centro Meca (Almeria), EspaiTactel (Valencia), Espiral–Meruela (Cantabria), Intersecció Art (Palma de Majorca), Lola Orato (Oviedo), Metro Arte Contemporánea (Santiago de Compostela), MisterPink (Valencia), Monty4arte (La Coruña) and TrentatresGallery (Valencia).
