Soundscape Park, in the New World Center, will be the main venue of the Art Video program of the 10th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach, from Dec. 1 to 4.
The selection of pieces was conducted by David Gryn, director of Artprojx in London, who turned to the list of guest galleries attending the fair to get his job done. For three nights straight –beginning Nov. 30- half a dozen programs dealing with different topics will be presented. On Wednesday, Landscapeshows off works featuring a literal or figurative view of the topic, out of the hands of creators like Tracey Emin and Lauren Grasso. On the second day, Americania will present a series of documentary films inspired in, God Bless America (2006), the one-minute film by Martha Rosler.Painterly, on Saturday 3, will combine cinema, animation, sculpture and painting in an intriguing way, while Brief Features will showcase the works of artists who keep the strain on, who cling to the visual spell, to imagination and the quality of a cinema-art feature film and they have a tad more to offer.
Art Video Nights will kick off each day at 8:00pm while the second program will start at 9:00pm. Admission to the Art Video Nights is free and visitors are recommended to carry blankets and folding chairs.
In the same breath, the Miami Convention Center will harbor presentation capsules especially designed for the showing of 22 films during the Art Video Nights in a nonstop cycle.
The full Art Video program is available on artbasel.com/video.
