Madrid: The Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection (CPPC) is attending the Cold America: Geometrical Abstraction in Latin America exhibit with 22 pieces of modern art. The exposition is organized by the Juan March Foundation and will remain open till May 15.
Created in the 1970s by Patricia Phelps de Cisneros and Gustavo A. Cisneros, CPPC –based in New York and Caracas– is one of the main educational and cultural initiatives spearheaded by the Cisneros Foundation whose mission is the promotion of Latin America’s contributions to the universal history of the arts.
For over a decade, this collection has been supporting exhibits in Spain by means of artwork borrowings to outstanding museums, like the Reina Sofia Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona and the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao.
Through exhibitions, borrowings to museums and galleries lodged in academic institutions, publications, the granting of scholarships for artistic research and creation, as well as the renowned Think Art educational initiative, the Patricia Phelps de Cisneros Collection has turned out to be one of the major exhibitions of Latin American art worldwide.
Cold America: Geometrical Abstraction in Latin Americawill count on a compilation of nearly 300 pieces of painting, photography, sculpture and architecture that showcase the complex history of geometrical abstraction in the Latin American art, its renovation and main differences with Europe in that field.
