The House of Mexico, located at Old Havana’s Historic Center, showcases, up to February 20, the Profunda sed (Deep Thirst) exhibition by Cuban artist Adonis Ferro.
Some 17 middle-and-large-format works which represent, according to the curator of the curator of the exhibition, David Mateo: “The characteristic autobiographical investigation of his work, in order to face with an incisive and suspicious look, other concerns and realities related to insular men”.
Art critic and editor Mateo notes in the catalogue that, with the current exhibition, Adonis Ferro not only strengthens the cycle of insertion and recognition of his work, but “he resumes his sense of conceptual and allegorical projection”, as “the shades gain more clearly-defined and spontaneous values and proportions, […] the portraits show an absolute confidence of lines and grounds, […] the brushstroke control is consolidated and, additionally, it becomes more vigorous and gestural”.
