The Gary Nader Art Centre is honored to announce the opening of “The Latin GRAMMY® Academy Collection: 25 Years of Music and Art,” a landmark exhibition that celebrates the profound intersection of Latin music and visual arts. In collaboration with The Latin Recording Academy®, this unique collection will be on display from October 2 through December 2024, offering an unparalleled journey through the vibrant history of Latin music, as seen through the eyes of some of the world’s most distinguished visual artists.
For the first time, this remarkable body of work—spanning 25 years of cultural milestones—will be exhibited at Gary Nader Art Centre, home to one of the most prestigious collections of modern and contemporary art in the world. The exhibition features official Latin GRAMMY® artworks from acclaimed artists such as Romero Britto, Walter Goldfarb, Michael V. Rios—who famously designed the cover of Carlos Santana’s multi-GRAMMY®-winning Supernatural—and Patssi Valdez, among others. Visitors will experience a dynamic array of artistic techniques, from collage and muralism to oil painting, representing diverse visual interpretations from artists across Latin America and beyond.
Gary Nader, founder of the Gary Nader Art Centre, commented on the significance of this exhibition: "It is a great privilege to present this unparalleled collection, which unites two of the most potent expressions of Latin culture—music and visual art. Miami, with its deep-rooted connections to the Latin world, provides the ideal canvas for celebrating the artistic achievements represented in this collection. We are thrilled to showcase the richness of these two mediums, which together capture the vibrant spirit and evolution of Latin creativity over the last 25 years."
The Latin GRAMMY Art Collection originated in 2000, when The Latin Recording Academy® sought to expand its mission of celebrating Latin culture by commissioning a visual artist to create a work embodying the spirit of that year’s awards. Over the past 25 years, artists of exceptional talent have contributed their distinctive perspectives to this evolving collection, producing singular works that reflect the cultural landscape of each respective year.
Enhancing the experience, the exhibition will also include exclusive memorabilia from legendary Latin music icons, such as Emilio Estefan, Laura Pausini, Gustavo Cerati, and Joe Arroyo. These artifacts, alongside the art collection, provide a profound narrative that illustrates the enduring influence of Latin music and culture on the global stage.
The exhibition invites art and music aficionados alike to engage with this visually stunning and culturally enriching experience, offering a rare glimpse into the fusion of artistic disciplines that have defined Latin GRAMMY history.
