Havana, Cuba.- Cuba will be the next guest of honor at the Santa Cruz Book Fair where a large representation of the island is expected, according to the Cuban General Consul of the eastern Bolivian city, Raul Sanchez Atencio.
According to Prensa Latina News Agency, Sanchez pointed out that the book fair will be held from May 30th to June 10th and a series of cultural events will be organized among them poetry and reading encounters with Cuban authors and film exhibitions.
Conversations will also be held on Cuba’s National Hero Jose Marti and on education; in addition to dance, music and theater exhibitions.
Cuba’s selection as guest of the literary fiesta was ratified on Sunday night at the closing of the 2017 Book Fair that lasted 12 days in the city known as the City of Rings.
We are grateful to be named guest of honor, said the Cuban Vice President of the Book Institute, Edel Morales and announced that the work to assist at the literary encounter will begin soon.
The writer invited the Department Directive of the Book Chamber to participate in the Cuban Book Fair to be held in February of 2018.
During the present edition, Cuba was represented by the Technologic and Advanced Telematics Services Company through CD, DVD, Audiobooks and E-books titles.
Collections of multimedia and videos on the independence leader Jose Marti, leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro and legendary guerrilla Ernesto Che Guevara were presented.
This year’s Book Fair was dedicated to Germany and received over 114 thousand visitors, 12 percent more than 2016 said the President of the Chamber Book Department of Santa Cruz, Sara Mansilla.
