Madrid.- The International Festival of Music and Dance ''City of Úbeda'' conferred on Spain the Gold Medal and the National Friends of Music Award to the Cuban Alicia Alonso, the Cuban National Ballet reports today.
For health reasons, the director of the emblematic company was not able to participate in the Spanish tour and the first dancers Anette Delgado and Dani Hernández received the distinctions in her name, before their performance.
The Mayor Antonia Olivares and the director of the Festival, Antonio Sánchez, handed over the awards in the Bulls Square of Úbeda, where the group got great ovations for the performance of Magic of Dance.
The National Ballet of Cuba (BNC) will continue its European tour, which includes performances in different Spanish cities and also in Italy and France, with a season in the Hall Pleyel, Paris.
So far, the specialized critics have reacted very favorably to the performance of the artists.
