Exhibitors from 17 Countries to Participate in Bolivian Book Fair

La Paz.- About 150 exhibitors from 17 countries will participate in the 21st International Book Fair of La Paz, to be held from September 7 to 18 in the Chuquiago Marka center, the organizing committee confirmed.

 


According to the representative of the Departmental Book Chamber, Tatiana Azeñas, the event's main topic will be the pride of La Paz and it will be dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes.

 

Considered one of the most important literary events in this nation, the activity is expected to receive more than 132,000 visitors reported in 2015 and will have Spain as the special guests, along with the Catholic University of Bolivia, which is celebrating five decades of institutional life.

 

According to Azeñas, the cultural program involves more than 300 activities, including book presentations, film screenings, exhibitions and theater performances, among others activities.

 

She also said that the public will have a space to exchange with guest authors and to participate in workshops and seminars.

 

The event includes a wide range of books from Bolivian publishers, as well as from other countries, such as Peru, Argentina, Chile, Italy and Spain.

 

In recent statements, Spanish Ambassador to Bolivia Angel Vazquez Diaz announced the presentation of the exhibition Miguel in Cervantes, The Altarpiece of Wonders.

 

This project is intended to describe through comics and illustrations the life of Cervantes and Don Quixote. The proposal is aimed at generating a powerful dialogue on the great adventurer and genius and bringing his work to people, he said.
