Havana. - Around seven works from Behind the Wall project that were exhibited during the 12th Havana Biennial will remain in several spaces in the Cuban capital city to turn different areas into urban museums
Highlighting among these pieces are Proyecto Reality-Cubo Azul, by Rachel Valdés; Primavera, by Rafael M. San Juan; Árbol de Luz, by Rafael Villares; Delicatessen, by Roberto Fabelo; Sweet Emotion, by Alexander Guerra; Implosion, by German artist Ewerdt Hilgemann; and Building new bridges and new windows, by German artist Andreas Feist.
According to Juan Delgado’s comment for CAN news agency—one of the curators of the project—the idea to anchor these works definitely to the city’s context arouse since Behind the Wall’s first edition that took place during the 11th edition.
Delgado indicated that to make this initiative possible they had the collaboration of the Historian Office, besides the consensus of the artists, who donated their talent so as the public could continue to interact with their creations.
On her part, Rachel Valdés assured that it was an honor to exhibit permanently in the city.
The artist confessed that Cubo Azul was a piece conceived for this context; she also said to be very happy the public can live that experience again and that “Behind the Wall” was a very ambitious project that established a link among the spectator, art and the daily life.
Juan Delgado highlighted that Behind the Wall prepares for its third edition in 2018, where it is expected the participation of creators like Grimanesa Amorós and Rafael Domenech.
