ART/Cartagena Social responsibility Program

ART/Cartagena international art fair Organization is aware of the problems affecting Cartagena concerning social and economic issue and it has joined the work by two renowned foundations to contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the vulnerable population in the city through the following initiatives:

 

Art auction in favors of the TECHO Organization

 

Within the framework of ART/Cartagena, 2015 they will carry out an exhibition in which 22 outstanding Colombian artists will artistically transform some miniature houses, which will be displayed and auctioned during the fair. All of the money raised will donated to the TECHO organization with the purpose to build more than 10 emergency housing for the most vulnerable population in Cartagena in the framework of the program #GiveBacktoCartagena, led by such Foundation.

 

This initiative works in the city through joint work between poor people, common citizens and volunteers who are seeking for the end of this situation through community development and programs such as the building of emergency houses.

 

"On this occasion and in the framework of one of the most important events in the Caribbean Region like ART/Cartagena 2015, they create the ideal context to unite artists and national art figures who accepted the challenge of transforming houses ,wood prototype to extol the most valuable thing related to the artists: their sensibility." Through art, these Colombian figures will create miniatures houses with dedication and creativity", said Lina Uribe, social director of TECHO organization- Colombia.

 

The wood houses that will transformed by the artists were created by Nohora Warrior, leader community Barrio Altos de Cazucá, in Cundinamarca, and beneficiary of the TECHO program. For her, “All must leave a footprint at the end of the road, the humanity decides if it was something good or bad, if it should be remembered, or it should be forgotten..."

Program with the Granitos de Paz Foundation

 

During ART/Cartagena 2015 will be carried out art workshops for the children from the Granitos de Paz Foundation, who will also participate in guided tours through the different galleries stands during the fair.

 

More on the Granitos de Paz Foundation

It is a non-profit institution created in October 2004 by a group of people from the Colombian private sector, with the aim of implementing a replicable model of comprehensive recovery in deprived sectors of Cartagena de Indias.

 

The target of such institution is to provide support and provide tools for hundreds of Colombians can survive from total poverty and despair, as well as acquire a decent standard of living and a promising future.
