Lizt Alfonso among leading voices for the children

Lizt Alfonso, the renowned Cuban dancer and choreographer, has been selected among the leading personalities for the Regional Campaign, 25 leaders, 25 voices for the infancy, organized by UNICEF in Latin America and the Caribbean together with the Agencia Española EFE.

 

The initiative, promoted when we celebrate the 25 years anniversary of the approval of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, seeks the criteria of 25 personalities of the continent on questions related to childhood and adolescent.

 

The UNICEF Good Will Ambassador, promoter of the formation of thousands of Cuban girls, boys and youth at the Vocational Workshops she organized every year from her company, Artistic-Teaching Unit of the National School of Dance, considers dance teaches children to have objectives in life.

 

Referring to the Convention, maestra Lizt commented about its importance, its meaning and the need to put it into practice. An added: “We have to make it happen every day and at any time. Not only each country´s government, I´m talking about each one of us as citizens”.

 

A look on children and reflections on the results and the challenges still facing the 195 millions of boys, girls and teenagers in Latin America and the Caribbean are some of the criteria those consulted by EFE agency expose.

 

The list of the 25 personalities includes Uruguayan president José Pepe Mujica, human rights activist Rigoberta Menchú, singer Julieta Venegas, actress Zoe Saldaña, Colombian scientist Manuel Elkin, opinion leader as football player Keylor Navas, journalists, writers, among some others.
