Barcelona’s Museo d’Art Contemporani (MACBA) is set to screen, on April 29 at 19:30 hrs., video art displays of collections from CA2M Centro de Arte Dos de Mayo and MACBA.
The project is framed within “Jugada a tres bandas” (Ja3b), an initiative that connects art galleries, curators and artists, this is its third year in Madrid and the first time in Barcelona city. Alberto Sanchez Balmisa in Madrid and Direlia Lazo in Barcelona were in charge of handpicking some video-art works from MACBA’s and CA2M’s collections, respectively. The result of that selection process made up a program that was carried out on the 14th at CA2M and now it’s the time for MACBA.
Esse est percipi is the title of Alberto Sanchez Balmisa’s work with MACBA’s video collection. Esse est percipi suggests a reflection on the perception and self-representation of artists in contemporary culture.
Meanwhile, the video selection carried out by Direlia Lazo out of CA2M’s collection, shows some works in which contemplation, as a non-spoken language, fosters the meaning of images without any dramatic accompaniment. In these cases, the story is built and developed through visual codes and tempos that are different from the conventional narration.
