Cultural directors Diego Costa Peuser, creator of Pinta, and Gaston Deleau, organizer of the successful LimaPhoto, have prepared a show at Lima’s Museum of Contemporary Art attended by 30 foreign galleries and 10 from Peru. The Fair, called PArC: Peru Contemporary Art, is the first international contemporary art show to be held in that country.
The event, which took place on April 24 – 28 at MAC-Lima, tried to become an important legitimation platform for artists to show their works.
Along with the contemporary art exhibitions, the fair also featured an outstanding cultural program. PArC is included eight “solo projects” of international artists that have been chosen by Jose Roca, curator for the Latin American Art Department at London’s Tate Gallery. A forum on Latin American art with the participation of artists from the region, and it’s been organized by Peruvian curator Miguel Lopez. An international museums forum set up by MALI and funded by the fair, as well as a video-art show curated young Peruvian Jose-Carlos Mariategui. Finally, the fair featured a Public Art section.
