Havana: The opening of Vigencia del paisaje exhibition by Cuban artist Ania Toledo (Cabaiguan, 1957), is set for tomorrow, Friday Dec. 17, at 4:00 pm, at Palacio de Lombillo Gallery, Cathedral Square, Old Havana’s Historic Core.
The landscapes painted by this artist have been admired in individual and collective exhibitions in Cuba, Spain, the U.S. and San Jose, Costa Rica, which, as well as Cuba, has inspired her work’s main topic: fine art recreations of woodlands.
In the 7th edition of Arte por Excelencias magazine, art critic Adelaida de Juan disclosed some of Ania Toledo’s creative keys: “Sharpness is a counterpoint in the management of a shady range which reflects the meditation in every piece of art. The artist’s empathy can be felt by contemplating the landscape and being absorbed by it. The deepest spot of the human being, the evocation of previously-submerged feelings, are evoked and recalled to our consciousness while piercing, taken by the hand of the painter, meaningful-laden scenery”.
