MEMORIA will be participating in the next edition of ZONA MACO, the leading art fair in Latin America, to be held on february 7-11th in Mexico City. MEMORIA will have 2 booths, one on MAIN SECTION, and one on Zona Maco EJES 2024, curated by Bernardo Mosqueira.
MEMORIA’s Main section booth (B108) -Multiplicity of the life / Multiplicidad de lo vivo- revisits the urgency of historical artistic practices in Latin America related to our collective capacity to assume a new visuality, a new language to understand social mutation, as well as the transformation of sensibility and political awareness. Multiplicity of the life / Multiplicidad de lo vivo - articulates this interaction of the inherited historical artistic memory, broadening the visual spectrum towards other aesthetic precepts, other affections, other ways of perceiving, feeling and naming. Artists: Roser Bru, Juan Castillo, Eugenio Merino, Guillermo Núñez, Marta Palau and Gustavo Pérez.
Moreover, Dissident Fantasies / Fantasías Disidentes (EJES 13) proposes a look at gender activism in Latin America: Chile - Mexico, through the artists Paz Errázuriz (Santiago de Chile, 1944 - ), and Terry Holiday (Mexico City, 1955 - ). This artistic dialogue represents a visual essay to reflect the notions of sexual identity and reaffirming the impossibility of reducing subjectivity, desire and pleasure to the categories of masculinity-femininity or heterosexuality-homosexuality. FANTASÍAS DISIDENTES is an anthropological look at gender identity in Latin America in late 70s and 80s, where fantasy operates as a vehicle of resistance against the normativity of the established system and surveillance. Artists: Terry Holiday and Paz Errázuriz.
