What’s on? Experience the best of VOLTA New York

VOLTA Art Fairs announces over 45 exhibitors in its 2024 New York edition, spanning 5 continents and 18 countries, seeking to break the traditional homogeneity of the market. The 16th edition of VOLTA New York will take place during the city’s fall art week for the first time, running September 5-8 with a preview on September 4.

With its reinvigorated direction, VOLTA New York 2024 offers a shared terrain to showcase artistic excellence from overlooked communities while reaffirming its commitment to New York's vibrant cultural landscape. Leveraging its global reach, the fair strives to make new inroads for underserved art hubs to engage with the New York market.

Access Point to Areas of Conflict

VOLTA New York will present a Ukrainian Pavilion in association with nonprofit partner Razom, including Dymchuk Gallery (Kyiv, Ukraine), The Naked Room (Kyiv, Ukraine), Black & White Project Space (New York, US), Ya Gallery (Lviv, Ukraine). The Pavilion is guided by Advisory Board members – Ukrainian artist and mother-daughter duo Ola and Maya Rondiak – and provides a crucial access point for gallerists and artists working in the current conflict with the New York art market.

Platforming Underrepresented Voices in the Market

The fair will present over 45 exhibitors and includes new, global additions such as O-Art Project (Lima, Peru), GSA Gallery (Stockholm, Sweden), uJung Art Centre (Seoul, South Korea), CARRASCO (Faro, Portugal), Marion Chauvy Gallery, (Paris, France) and Stone Step Gallery (Dublin, Ireland). With a commitment to breaking the art fair mold and introducing new ideas, Cavaliere injects a resurgence of VOLTA’s founding ethos as the point of access to the market for preeminent, emerging talent from around the world.

As well as geographic breadth, VOLTA will proudly present Creative Growth Art Center (Oakland, USA), a nonprofit organization that champions artists with disabilities and is celebrating its 50th anniversary. This milestone is marked by special events, including participation in this year’s VOLTA Basel and New York fairs, as well as an exhibition at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.

The Town Square – A place of collaboration, commonality and cultural dialogue

A central focus of the fair will be the Town Square – a place of collaboration and cultural dialogue that encourages an egalitarian approach, inviting less established galleries to enter the market. Invernizzi Art Lab (Montevideo, Uruguay) will focus on photography work by Teodelina Detry, Adam Jeppesen and Luis Fabini. Cheryl Molnar Projects (New York, USA) is among over 15 galleries that debut at VOLTA New York. The gallery presents a solo presentation by Ivan Stojakovic that pulls focus on environmentalism. Village One Art and FORMAH (New York, USA) who both debuted at VOLTA New York in 2023, present a stronghold of female artists for the 2024 edition. Longstanding VOLTA exhibitor NL=US (Rotterdam, Netherlands/New York, USA) also presents female artists including Margriet Breevoort who grapples with human place in the world through sculptural work that contort the human body. The space will encourage cross-cultural dialogue between diverse human stories and, with the booths designed to foster access to the market, encourages more geographical breadth to emerging galleries.

“VOLTA New York addresses a nation on the brink of change. It mirrors our world—marked by internationalism, the elevation of diverse voices to shape the future, whilst also supporting a local creative economy too. Our exhibitors embody these values. Under my new direction I want to challenge the mold of a traditional art fair to reimagine market access within this setting. We are thrilled to collaborate with our nonprofit partner Razom, who play a crucial role in our global narrative — highlighting contemporary art amidst conflict. VOLTA New York dares to present the new and unseen this September.”
