Entrepreneurs, guerrilla, Popes, cardinals, heretics, champions, “rock stars” and mega-divas are son the characters that make upJosé Mercader’s“Le Panthéon de Mercader”, opened within the framework of the 17th International Book Fair 2014 Santo Domingo.
“Le Panthéon de Mercader”, which includes one hundred artworks in different formats, is part of the exhibition program rolled out by the Ministry of Culture, the Head Office for the Book Fair and the Museum of Modern Art (MAM is the Spanish acronym).
This show pays tribute to Félix Tournachon, known as Nadar, an excellent photographer and caricaturist, a pioneer along with Honoré Daumier.
When addressing the audience, Mercader explained that drawing cartoons is a living art because it directly establishes a link with the public. There emotion, laugh, a universal language that needs no translation.
“Le Panthéon de Mercader”will be open 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m., throughout the International Book Fair, at the Museum of Modern Art, Dominican Republic, nestled in Pedro Henríquez UreñaAv., Juan Pablo Duarte Culture Square.
