Traveling Show ‘Saltando Muros’ Opens in Mexico

The first display of Saltando Muros (Jumping over Walls) Latin American project of emerging photography kicked off on October 19, after months of work and the selection of projects. Mexico City’s Vasconcelos Library was the place chosen for the opening, and it will be hosting exhibitions through December 8. The show puts together pictures taken by 19 artists, younger than 35, whose works have been handpicked among 700 projects presented through different national events. After this exhibition, Saltando Muros is scheduled to tour Latin America 2013-2015, visiting Peru, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Brazil and Spain.

Saltando Muros was conceived in order to support emerging creators and showcase their works in first-level institutions and museums, which represents an opportunity to enter the professional art circuit. This traveling show is a platform for their creations to be known beyond their borders.

Through 2015, Saltando Muros is scheduled to visit the most prestigious institutions of the Latin American cultural space, such as the National Museum of Fine Arts (Neuquén, Argentina), Museum of Modern Art in Dominican Republic (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), Museum of Contemporary Art of Chile’s University and Casa de America (Madrid, Spain), among others. The project encourages the educational work of museums, positioning it as a meeting place, alive, without barriers, where viewers are the fundamental element of the process.

Participating artists in this edition: Evelyn Merino Reyna (Peru), Miguel Francisco Rueda (Peru), Julio Lugo Rivas (Puerto Rico), Norma Vila Rivero (Puerto Rico),Francisco (Pancho) Rodriguez (Dominican Republic), Yael Duval Liriano (Dominican Republic),Chi-Hua Salinas (Chile), Victor Anacona Ortiz (Chile), Gabriela Portaluppi (Ecuador), Cesar Morejón Castillo (Ecuador), Sebastián Arce Manrique (Mexico), Fernando Manuel Escarcega Perez (Mexico), Paula Jimenez (Argentina), Lola García Garrido (Argentina), Santiago Sebastián Salles (Uruguay), Vitor Pontes de Souza (Brazil), Raphael Alves (Brazil), Nicolás Combarro García (Spain) and Alberto Herrero Barceló (Spain).
