The London Print Studio is exhibiting through June 4 Cuban Gold. ¡Viva la reproducción! Contemporary Cuban Prints, an exposition of over eighty prints curated by artists Sandra Ramos and David Palacios.
The exhibition includes artworks by Abel Barroso, Agustin Valdes, Aliosky Garcia, Alexandro Lopez, Angel Ramirez, Antonio Nuñez, Anyelmaidelin Calzadilla, Dania Fleites, Elio Rodriguez, Edgar Echevarria, Frank Martinez, Gustavo del Valle, Hanoi Perez, Ibrahim Miranda, Janet Brosard, Jose A. Toirac, Lazaro Saavedra, Lisandra Ramirez, Luis Gomez, Mabel Poblet, Norberto Marrero, Octavio Irving, Osmeivy Ortega, Sandra Ramos, Tomy R. Ortiz Sanchez, Yamilis Brito and Jacqueline Brito.
Artists selected for Cuban Gold... are the heirs of La Huella Múltiple, events organized between 1996 and 2007 by outstanding creators Belkis Ayon, Abel Barroso, Ibrahim Miranda and Sandra Ramos in a bid to foster the creation of engravings by unconventional methods.
The London mass media have reacted with very favorable reviews to this update of Cuba’s printing art and for some of them the exhibit is “a necessary rediscovery of the most recent Cuban prints in which variety of styles and attitudes in the of engraving stand out.”
