The third edition of the Program for Museum Acquisitions will be promoted in the context of Pinta art fair this year. The program encourages the purchase of Latin American art in the exhibition by leading museums. Some of the institutions invited to participate in this initiative arethe Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the Harvard Art Museum, the Museo del Barrio of New York, Tamayo Museum in Mexico City, the Tate Gallery in London and the Pinacoteca in Sao Paulo.
It is also expected the visit of representatives of the New York MoMA, the Museum Jack S. Blanton Austin (Texas), Latin American Art Museum of Buenos Aires and Lima Art Museum. Galleries of Spain, Chile, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Venezuela, Peru, Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti and Costa Rica will participate. As an opening, on November 18 will take place a talk with the Guatemalan artist Dario Escobar at the Americas Society, New York. As part of its outreach program for art in Latin America, Pinta will grant scholarships this year at NYU to help train new scholars.
